Wake Effects Crowned Champion at Key West World Championship

Kansas Businessman Russell “Rusty” Rahm is the president and CEO of Subscription Ink, Co. He owned Wake Effects, a watersports apparel and equipment company in the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. Rusty Rahm has been racing for years and won multiple Super Boat International championships in the Wake Effects boat. The 36th annual Key West World Championship, which held November 6-13, 2016, saw 43 teams racing for the world champion title.

Wake Effects, a 48’ MTI, was driven by Rusty Rahm and throttled by Jeff Harris. By day one, team Wake Effects sat in 6th position, but after three days of racing, they took home first place and double points to earn the world title (Superboat Unlimited).

The team finished in first place ahead of Team CRC, a 42’ MTI featuring owner/driver Mike DeFrees and throttleman Jay Muller. UAE-33 Team Victory, a 41’ Victory driven by Salem Ali Aladidi of Dubai and throttled by John Tomlinson, finished third.

Other crowned world champions in different classes include Performance Boat Center (Superboat), AMH Construction Instigator (Superboat Extreme), LSB Hurricane of Awesomeness (Superboat Vee), FJ Propeller (Serboat Stock), 2nd Amendment (P3), and Crazy Chicken (P4).
